Biological Remediation

There are many factors that cause leachfields to fail. One of those causes is the natural buildup of excessive bacteria and solids in the leach field.

The natural process of a convential septic system is the anerobic bacterial treatment of the wastewater in the septic tank. This process converts waste into a semi liquid form which overflows to the leach field. Over time this process creates a layer of bacteria at the bottom of the leach field. This layer is called the "biomat layer". The biomat layer causes strucurally sound leachfields to fail biologically. Field testing can easily verify if this condition is present. Should this be the case, one tool in the repair of septic systems is biological remediation.

Biological remediation is a process where oxygen along with oxygen hungry bacteria are introduced into the septic system. This changes the septic tank process from an anerobic system to an aerobic system. In a short time this aerobic bacteria will dissolve the biomat layer, thus reclaiming the leach field.

This process may also be used before failure symptoms appear. By installing this process in a properly functioning septic system, the process will dramaticly increase the life of the system.

Sewer works has teamed with Septic Preservation Services Inc. as a dealer of the White Knight Microbial Inoculator Generator; a top of line biological remediator.
